Thakur, who was on way to Shimla from Dharamsala, stopped at the hospital along with a team of local Congress leaders.

The hospital authorities, who took him by surprise, accompanied the minister to various wards. The minister also held talks with the hospital staff.

A deputation of the Hospital Welfare Society also met the minister with their demand to grant them permission for a serai (inn) out of the society funds. However, the minister told them that he would hold discussion with the district administration.

Talking to a group of reporters present at the hospital, Thakur said the department was filling posts of medical officers and paramedic staff in the referral units in villages.
