Khadoor Sahib boys show class in hockey

It was sheer hard work and dedication that saw the boys of the Khadoor Sahib-based Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Senior Secondary School win the 10th All India Dr BR Ambedkar Inter-School Hockey Tournament on Sunday.

In the final held at Railway Hockey Ground in Nagpur, the local boys thrashed Government Senior Secondary School, Rourkela (Odisha) 4-1.

This school is managed by well known environmentalist Baba Sewa Singh, popularly known as 'kaar sewa wale' for the services he renders to society. The Baba is also very keen to promote sports and for this he has set up the Baba Uttam Singh National Hockey Academy.

During the tournament in Nagpur, Prabhjot Singh, star player of the Khadoor Sahib team, was chosen the "best player of the tournament" and team captain Sumitpal Singh bagged the "highest scorer" prize. In addition, Parmjit Singh and Jobanpreeet Singh also bagged individual awards for their performances during the tournament.

Team coach Balkar Singh and assistant coach Balwinder Singh informed that the team defeated the Uttar Pradesh (UP) schools team 5-0 in quarter final and in the semi-final, they beat the Haryana schools team by 3-1.

Baba Sewa Singh has congratulated the team players and coaches.
