Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dissident and renowned Sikh musician Bhai Baldeep Singh kicked off his election campaign for Khadoor Sahib bypoll by paying obeisance at Gurdwara Angitha Sahib in Khadoor Sahib on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by prof Manjit Singh, convener of Swaraj Abhyan Lehar, and several activists of the Aam Admi Volunteer Front who extended full support to him.
Bhai Baldeep recently announced to contest the bypoll as an independent candidate from Khadoor Sahib seat, which fell vacant after resignation of Congress MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki in protest against sacrilege incidents in the state.
It may be recalled here that Bhai Baldeep was suspended from AAP earlier this year, along with Lok Sabha members Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa. His entry in the election field has brought new twist in the political scene as the bypoll, which is expected to be held in coming months, is being considered important for state politics in the wake fo 2017 assembly polls.
