Former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira has demanded the immediate dismissal of revenue minister Bikram Majithia and minister of animal husbandry Gulzar Singh Ranike for their alleged involvement in scams.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, Khaira alleged that the CBI had registered an FIR against three youth Akali leaders, close associates of Majithia, in a fraudulent land acquisition case in Bathinda.

"These men bought land from farmers of Mandi Khurd village in Bathinda and passed it on to the government for acquisition, making a profit of crores within days. These so-called youth Akali leaders could not have pressed the government for the acquisition without the connivance of Majithia," Khaira alleged.

"The CBI should also include Majithia's name in the FIR as one of the accused," he demanded.

He said minister Gulzar Singh Ranike was also under a cloud in the border area funds scam. The chief minister was not only turning a blind eye to the corruption by his ministers but was also shielding them, Khaira alleged.

"To get to the core of these scandals, it is imperative that these ministers be dismissed from
the cabinet so that a fair investigation could be carried out," Khaira said.

"I also call upon the Congress leadership of Punjab to initiate a strong action-oriented programme, including gheraoing these ministers to force their resignation," Khaira said.
