Former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira has demanded immediate dismissal of state minister for NRI affairs Bikram Singh Majithia in wake of allegations of land grab levelled by an NRI at Ludhiana. He also demanded a judicial probe or a CBI inquiry into the matter while expressing lack of faith in the Punjab Police.

"New facts are coming to light in the controversial The Hub restaurant case at Ludhiana, wherein an NRI Hardial Hundal has pointed finger towards Majithia in helping Sunny Johar grab the said land. There is not an iota of doubt that Sunny Johar, the main accused in the AIG beating up case, was being patronised, shielded and promoted by Majithia to grab prime property over which The Hub has been built," Khaira said.

"After examining the details of allegations, it is amply clear that Ludhiana administration acted at the behest of Majithia to favour Sunny Johar. Not only that, the Ludhiana SSP failed to act on the complaint of Ranjana Sohi, sister of NRI, and instead fabricated a false case against her," Khaira added.

"The Ludhiana DC also failed to render justice while looking into the title of the property, despite forging of documents like death certificate and will by the accused in the said matter," Khaira further added.

Sensing 'patronage' by Bikram Majithia, Gurbinder Gill, a relative of the NRI who hails from Majithia constituency, brought the matter to the notice of the minister, Khaira said. "Instead of rendering justice to the aggrieved, the minister tried his best to pressurise the family of the NRI to reach a compromise with Sunny Johar."

Majithia should be dismissed from the cabinet without any further delay, so that an impartial inquiry can be conducted, he said.
