In a press conference held here on Saturday, the Former Bholath MLA, Sukhpal Khaira once again targeted PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh for putting important issues aside to concede opposition status for other political parties.
Khaira said that congress has failed to take up important issues against the government and has failed miserably in panchayats, corporations and recently held Dasuya by-polls.
In the open letter, he questioned the PPCC chief why he didn't raise a hue and cry against the illegal appointed of Sumedh Singh Saini as DGP whose selection is being challenged in the high court of Punjab and Haryana by Voices of Freedom, an NGO.
He said, "You had been in the forefront alleging political vendetta against congress during the tenure of SAD-BJP government. You had also met the PM and the home minister, among other ministers, condemning the registration of more than 30,000 false cases by the Badal government against congressmen in Punjab. Even during the elections in February 2012, you had complainted against Saini the then chief director vigilance bureau (VB) for distributing cash on the instructions of Deputy CM to influence voters."
He further said, "By bringing the issue of such blatantly wrong appointment of Saini we could have cornered the Badal government and exposed his double standards on terrorism, since he is a votary for clemency to Prof Bhullar sentenced to capital punishment and at the same time defends Saini in the Supreme Court despite allegations of murder of the father and uncle of Prof Bhullar at the hands of Saini."
Criticising the PPCC chief he said that the congress has not opposed the recent police firing killing in Mansa district, wrongful indictment of Patwari Mohan Singh and illegal shamlat land owned by CM, DGP and others around Chandigarh.
He also accused the Capt of entering into some tacit understanding with the Badals and said that despite his strict instructions of not interacting with the Badals his trusted aide Dhuri MLA Arvind Khanna is often seen in the company of Sukhbir Badal.
