Extending their support to the agitating guest teachers protesting against the government's decision to remove them, representatives of several khap panchayats have threatened to lock all government schools in the state on July 14 if the government fails to reinstate the sacked teachers.
The decision was taken in a Sarvjatiya Sarvkhap Mahapanchayat, held in Jind, on Monday. Representatives of 82 khaps including kandela khap, singhmar khap, saatbas khap, panchgrami khap, barah khap, punia khaps attended the Mahapanchayat.
Addressing the gathering, Nafe Singh Nain of nain khap said that the government should consider the demands of the guest teachers by July 13 otherwise they will join the protest along with the teachers. They also accused the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in the state of taking away the employment of thousands of guest teachers in the state.
The khap leaders said that to protest against the government's decision to sack 3581 guest teachers, about 1,00,00 guest teachers have boycotted classes which has affected the studies of lakhs of students in government schools.
