Haryana chief minister ML Khattar on Friday directed the agriculture department officials to prepare a database of people engaged in farming activities in the state so as to segregate the cultivating as well as owner farmers.
Presiding over a review meeting of agriculture department here, Khattar said the database would help in facilitating the actual cultivators with all types of compensation and assistance given by the government.
He made it clear that benefit of any type of financial assistance should go to cultivating farmers rather than owners.
Khattar who desired that insurance cover for polyhouses should be provided to the farmers in case of any damage, said sometimes polyhouse was damaged owing to strong winds. He emphasised upon establishing testing labs for foodgrains on the pattern of fruits and vegetables to check quantum of chemical residue.
He directed the department to reach out to every farmer so as to provide soil and water testing facilities to them.
Emphasising on making a direct chain from farmers to consumers, agriculture minister OP Dhankhar suggested to open outlets for marketing of vegetables, flowers and other cash crops in Delhi so that farmers could be able to sell their produce at remunerative prices.
