Kidnapped boy recovered after 2 months

A 4-year-old boy, who was kidnapped and sold two months ago, was recovered here on Saturday. Anush (4) of local Gol Bagh Colony went missing since November 22, 2012. "Superintendent of police (detective) Raghbir Singh took command of a team to trace the boy, whose pictures were released to the print and electronic media and passed on to all police stations in the state," senior superintendent of police Varinder Pal Singh said here on Saturday.

A 4-year-old boy, who was kidnapped and sold two months ago, was recovered here on Saturday. Anush (4) of local Gol Bagh Colony went missing since November 22, 2012.


"Superintendent of police (detective) Raghbir Singh took command of a team to trace the boy, whose pictures were released to the print and electronic media and passed on to all police stations in the state," senior superintendent of police Varinder Pal Singh said here on Saturday.

Deputy superintendent of police (city) Vibhore Sharma received the secret input that led the police to boy, who was in the house of Laxmi, a widow living at Shekra village in Guru Har Sahai police jurisdiction in Ferozepur district. Laxmi needed a child because she was issueless and so she spread the word in various deras, the police have said.

"Balwinder Kaur, a woman of Khalsa Colony, Ferozepur, who is a relative of Laxmi, brought her the boy, saying he was son a widow who wanted to remarry and needed Rs 20,000 to get over economic crisis," said DSP Vibhore Sharma. "Laxmi handed the money to Balwinder and accepted the boy."
During further investigation, the police found Balwinder to be sole suspect, and arrested her on Saturday.

The boy was restored to his parents.
