'Kidnapped' Malerkotla girls recovered from Nasik

Two Malerkotla girls, including a minor, who were allegedly kidnapped from the town about one-and-a-half months ago by two local boys, have been recovered by the local police from Nasik.

The police have booked the two boys Ravi and Ashutosh on the charge of rape and kidnapping. Talking to Hindustan Times, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Malerkotla William Jeji said that the girls and their alleged kidnappers were working in a biscuit factory at Malerkotla.

On the complaint of the father of one of the girls on October 31, the police had started the investigation about the whereabouts of the girls and the boys.

On Sunday, the police managed to recover the girls and the boys from a biscuit factory in Sinar of Nasik district. The police produced the accused before Manender Singh Yadav, judicial magistrate (1st class) Sinar, who sent them on transit remand at Sangrur.

In their statements, the girls have told the police that the accused had kidnapped them and raped them several times.

He said that the judicial magistrate has sent the boys to two-day remand and the girls have been handed over to the families.

The accused have been booked under sections 376, 363, 366, 366 A, 120 B and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
