Kila Raipur games: Daredevil stunts steal the show on day 2

Daredevil stunts by the physically challenged, horse races, tractor tyre races and martial art performances by hearing and speech impaired students, stole the show on the second day of Kila Raipur Sports Festival on Saturday.

  Daredevil stunts by the physically challenged, horse races, tractor tyre races and martial art performances by hearing and speech impaired students, stole the show on the second day of Kila Raipur Sports Festival on Saturday. 

 The day commenced with hockey matches while daredevil stunts like lifting of 50 kg weight with teeth, pulling car with ear, lifting heavy tyre and balancing the body on a bottle kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. 

 More spectators were seen enjoying the sports festival on Day 2 as compared to Day 1. The Taekwondo show presented by hearing and speech impaired students won many a hearts. The students were being given instructions by their coach. They performed stunts including jumping upon the fire and breaking tube-lights. 

 Camel and horse dance enthralled the spectators including foreigners who especially come to cover these events. The Punjab police team participated in the Tent Pegging while villagers exhibited their enthusiasm in the Tractor Tyre race. 

 One of the visitors from Delhi, Anurag Verma said, “I have come to see the games for first time and it has been a wonderful experience for me. I wanted to cover bullock cart race but it is not being organised this year. However, the daredevil stunts, martial arts, horse race and tractor race were amazing. I have never seen such games anywhere in India.” 

On concluding day on Sunday, the tractor races, horse races, tri-cycle race for handicapped, semi final and final matches of Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup Hockey, daredevil stunts and kabaddi will be the main attractions. 

 In hockey, the first semi-final will be played between Jarkhar Eleven and Grewal Sports Club Kila Raipur while the second semi-final will be played between Hanskalan and SGPC Academy Batala on Sunday. 

A man and his grandson were injured when an uncontrolled horse hit them outside the Kila Raipur Stadium on Saturday. The child started crying as the horse hit him and his grandfather. While participating in a horse race, a jockey had lost control of his horse which started running towards the road where the child and his grandfather were standing. Sources said the jockey also received minor injury.
