The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has sent a legal notice to Rohit Dhawan, director of the upcoming movie “Dishoom”, and actor Jacqueline Fernandez for “insulting religious sentiments” of Sikh community.

Talking to mediapersons at Anandpur Sahib on Wednesday, DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said T-Series has released a teaser of the song “Sau Tarah Ke”, in which the actor is shown using a “kirpan” -- a short sword that is one of the five distinguishing signs of Sikhs -- as a prop. He said the video, which has been uploaded on Youtube, was highly offensive and a deliberate insult to the well-established Sikh tenets and customs.

Sirsa said through the legal notice, the director has been asked to remove the video and delete the song from the movie or re-shoot it sans the “kirpan” and to issue a public apology to Sikhs within seven days.
