Punjab Police have moved arrested Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo to an undisclosed place in Chandigarh to interrogate him about the overseas activities of the militant outfit, designs of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and a missing sleeper cell.
Sources in the Jalandhar rural police said national security agencies Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Military Intelligence (MI) might interrogate Mintoo and his aide Gurpreet Singh “Gopi”, who for months lived in a rented accommodation at Guru Amar Dass Nagar near the Verka milk plant on the Amritsar road here to survey the markets of this city.
Gopi had made a report of his observations to execute a subversive plan. In September 2013, he fled the city when the Purana Shalla police arrested accomplices Narinderpal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Harpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh, all of Gurdaspur district, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and Arms Act.
He got wind of it when the Gurdaspur and Jalandhar cops raided Guru Amar Dass Nagar; and escaped to Dubai via Nepal. Now, the Gurdaspur police have him in custody for three days and the Jalandhar rural police want to bring him over. A hunt is on for the sleeper cells activated by the KLF’s Jammu module busted in August, and the police hope to gather leads from Mintoo.
They are on the trail of two women in Rupnagar who aborted their plan to attack the Anandpur Sahib shrine when the Jammu module got busted. Police have orders to catch them fast.
On August 4 in Jammu, the Jalandhar rural police and crime investigation agency (CIA) had arrested Harpreet Singh “Pintu” from Simbal Camp; Paramjit Singh “Pamma” from Basti Gobind Puri in Simbal Camp; and Sarwan Singh Shabba from Meera Sahib; and said they ran a KLF module.
