In a surprise move, veteran jour nalist Kuldeep Nayar on Thursday threw his weight behind senior BJP leader and party’s Amritsar nominee Arun Jaitley who is pitted in a tough fight against his Congress rival Captain Amarinder Singh.
Nayar, who was in the city to support Jaitley, said “I will like to make it clear that I have come here for Jaitley because he is like a family member. I have not come here for BJP. I want Jaitley to go to Parliament because of his vision”.
To a question on the so-called Modi wave in the country, Nayar said, “I won’t say it is a wave but definitely people have started saying ‘Modi ko vote daalo’ (Vote for Modi).”
On the contest in Amritsar, the veteran journalist said, “I have just come here and not seen much but I have heard that it is a very close contest”.
