Kurukshetra University inks deal to set up online admission facility

Kurukshetra University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Haryana Knowledge Corporation Ltd to set up online admission facilities and to provide e-facilties for students throughout their stay at the university. The entire concept has been branded as the Digital University Framework.

Vice-chancellor Lt Gen DDS Sandhu and Haryana Knowledge Corporation Ltd. (HKCL) managing director Sameer Pande signed the memorandum of understanding in the presence of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar at Chandigarh on Tuesday.

"With a digital network in place, KU students will be provided online facilities such as examination forms submission, evaluation of answers books, preparation of detail marks card, new registration, NOC certificate, personalised time table, SMS, online fee, character certificate, etc. It will save the time of the students who come from far-away places in Haryana and other states" said Sandhu.

The agreement has been signed under the Digital India Week programme launched by the Central Government. In the first stage, all online facilities will be provided to the students of B Tech (1st semester) of the session 2015-16, added Sandhu. The varsity has already taken a number of steps towards e-governance like online admission forms etc.

"The agreement will boost KU's initiatives and will be the first full digital university of the state," said the V-C.

University Institute of Engineering and Technology director Sunil Dhingra, who is also the in-charge of Information Technology (IT) cell at Kurukshetra University, has been named the nodal officer for implementation of the deal.

THE PROGRAMME

The agreement has been signed under the Digital India Week programme launched by the Centre.

In the first stage, all online facilities will be provided to the students of BTech (1st semester) in session 2015-16.
