Last respects paid to Chandigarh youth Cong president

Despite heavy rain, hundreds of people turned up to pay their last respects to City Youth Congress president Maninder Singh Dhillon, who was cremated at the Manimajra cremation ground, on Saturday. Dhillon, 32, a resident of Manimajra, was killed in a road accident near Herbetpur town in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand on Friday morning.

The deceased’s family members and relatives were in a state of shock at the sudden death of the young leader. He was the only son of his parents, and is survived by his wife and two children. His body was brought to the city on Friday evening.

Various senior party leaders, including former Chandigarh member of Parliament Pawan Kumar Bansal, Chandigarh Congress chief Pardeep Chabra and former city mayor Shubash Chawla, expressed grief and paid condolences to the aggrieved family. Meanwhile, senior BJP leaders, including BJP state president Sanjay Tandon, and a few others, also paid their condolences.

Expressing grief over the death of the young Congress leader, Manish Tewari, former Union minister said, “His unfortunate demise has come as a huge shock to the family and the party. He had a bright future as he processed a dynamic personality and was a hardworking leader. He would always be remembered.”Meanwhile, expressing grief, Pardeep Chabra said, “He was an active politician, and his loss can’t be compensated in any way.”
