Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi’s Kala Ratan award, 2016, will be bestowed on the internationally renowned sculptor and painter Shiv Singh posthumously. The artist died last year. The award will be presented to his wife at a ceremony on February 3. Besides, the akademi has also announced annual awards for excellence in various arts for the year, said Sadhna Sangar.
As many as 250 art works by 80 artists in professional and student category were selected, while 111 works were short listed for display in the exhibition in February. Professional category: Amreek Singh (painting), Kanwarpal Singh and Vishal Bhatnagar (sculpture), Manuk Prashar (graphic) and Bhupinder Barar (photography). Student category: Pankaj Sharma (painting), Kulwinder Singh (drawing), Manpreet Singh (graphic), Amit Khatri (photography) and Honey Kaushal (sculpture).
While the Kala Rattan award carries cash award of Rs 31000 , the annual award in professional category is for Rs 21000 and student category Rs 11000, besides a citation, certificate and a fulkari.
