Chamar Mahan Sabha president Paramjit Singh Kainth on Saturday slammed the Punjab government on the issue of present law and order situation in the state, saying the situation has taken an ugly turn and worsening with each passing day.

In a statement issued here this evening Kainth said that Sukhbir-Majithia duo is mainly responsible for the current plight of the state people, who are facing wrath of 'goondaism' of the Akali Dal's cadre.

He said that because of the undue political interference on part of Sukhbir and Majithia the police department has become spineless.

Sabha chief added that not only the common people, the police have become helpless in providing justice to its own people and the recent attacks on the ASIs in both Amritsar and Ludhiana are two instances to prove this point.

He claimed that the situation is sadder in Ludhiana assault where the police have failed to even register FIR.

Accusing BJP, the alliance partner in the state government, as mere spectators, Kainth said that this gives an impression that its leaders just want to enjoy the power and don't want to spoil their party image by raising a finger against the grim situation in the state.

He said that it seemed that both Sukhbir and Majithia have decided to rule the state by terrorising people.

He said that now the time is ripe for the Centre to intervene as the poor people of the state especially belonging to backward classes are compelled to live under terror.
