Advocates in the city will observe Tuesday as 'no work day' to protest against the failure of the police authorities of Fatehgarh Churian police station in Gurdaspur district to come to the aid of a fellow lawyer whose agricultural land was forcibly occupied by some persons despite a status quo order having been ordered by a court.
This decision was taken at the executive body meeting of the Amritsar Bar Association (ABA) held here on Monday. The meeting was presided over by ABA president Parminder Singh Sethi.
In a resolution passed in the meeting, the ABA demanded immediate action against those responsible for the occupation of advocate Bawa Singh Teja's land.
The resolution also sought action against the police officials of Fatehgarh Churian police station who failed to come to the aid of the lawyer despite being shown the court order.
