Two murder accused brought police on their toes on Tuesday when they fled from the civil hospital here as they were brought for medical examination. However, they were nabbed later.
Palwinder Singh of Jagraon and Gurwinder Singh of Sahnewal are facing murder charges and are lodged in jail.
As the doctors were conducting X-rays on the accused, whose handcuffs had been taken off, they fled from the spot. The two managed to escape from custody by scaling the broken wall of the hospital.
Constable Jasbir Singh, with the help of a motorcyclist, nabbed one of them while locals nabbed the other who had entered a house in Amarpura area and handed him over to the police.
Only four cops had been deputed with 19 prisoners who were brought to the hospital for medical examination.
SHO inspector Gurpreet Singh said a case had been registered against the two at Division No. 2 police station.
