Ludhiana killing

In the killing of brothers Jatinder Singh and Harinder Singh, dismissed Machhiwara station house officer (SHO) inspector Manjinder Singh was booked for distorting evidences.

Section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been added to FIR already registered in this context at the Jamalpur police station. Action has also been initiated to arrest the dismissed SHO.

Sukhvir Singh, another accused and driver of inspector Manjinder Singh, is still at large and a manhunt has been launched for him.

Ludhiana commissioner Pramod Ban confirmed the development.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up in the case sent a report about this to the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes.

It was found during investigation that the SHO, after killing the two brothers on September 27, had made a forged entry in the police station record to fake the killings as an encounter. He also gave wrong information to senior officials.

After dismissing the SHO, the department had initiated a probe which found that he was involved in distorting evidences.

The police have also sought the court's permission to conduct narco analysis and brain mapping of the accused.

Four of the accused, including SAD leader Gurjit Singh, constable Yadwinder Singh and Home Guard jawans Baldev Singh and Ajit Singh are in the Ludhiana Central Jail on a judicial remand.

National Commission for Schedule Castes vice-chairman Raj Kumar Verka had ordered the police to book the SHO in the murder case.
