Demanding the registration of a case against Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the Moga molestation and murder case, the Left parties on Wednesday staged a protest march and burnt effigy of Sukhbir.

The Left activists, including Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI (Marxist) and CPI (Marxist-Leninist), started the protest march from the local Pink Plaza market, which culminated at the Hall Gate with the burning of Sukhbir Badal’s effigy.

Raising slogans against the Punjab government, the activists alleged that the people of Punjab were fed up with the attitude of Orbit Transport Company and the Moga incident was an indication of high headedness.

They demanded that the deputy CM must immediately be booked by police.

Demanding a probe into the incident by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Left parties alleged that Orbit buses had been flouting norms due to Sukhbir, and a detailed probe of all such violations was required.

Terming the Moga incident “shameful”, the protesters demanded that a detailed probe into the entire transport business of the Badals was needed.
