Winners do not do different things, they do things differently.

This phrase certainly stands appropriate with regards to Satnam Singh Bhamara, the first Indian to be drafted into the NBA, US. The 19-year-old's great zeal and dedication towards the basketball game has brought him a huge fame.

Bhamara, who stands tall at 7' 2, has said that his life has changed completely after he made it to the NBA.

When Satnam arrived in Ludhiana on Friday, he directly reached Guru Nanak Dev stadium from Delhi airport. He had begun playing basketball at the same stadium. His fans in large numbers had gathered to meet him. His parents and siblings were among the gathering who had reached from their native Balloke village in Barnala.

While talking to HT, he said, "It is my passion and zeal for this game that made me a part of NBA but it also made me learn several lessons. If your will is strong, you can achieve anything in life."

He shared how he was accorded a rousing welcome at New Delhi airport when he stepped out of the plane. "It was all like I was dreaming. Selfies, autographs and handshakes went on endlessly and it was such an experience which I have no words for. It has also made my parents and my siblings proud. Before NBA draft, I was a cynosure for all just due to my tall height but my world has completely changed after getting associated with the NBA,"he said with a grin.

"I have appeared in over 100 print and electronic interviews. I can't forget the excitement of foreign correspondents and fans the moment they meet me,"he says.

Underlining the need for better sports infrastructure, he said the government should ensure world class facilities for the sportspersons just as US and other countries are providing. He said there was a need for well trained coaches for the players.

It is worth mentioning here that Satnam has got the attention of several celebrities as well. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actor Akshay Kumar have also congratulated Satnam.
