The excise and taxation department has seized 107 boxes of illicit liquor from two religious places in Bedi Nagar near Bandh-Faatak area in the city. The liquor was recovered from a temple and a Peer Khana.

"English wine and countrymade liquor have been seized from Rinku Kumar in Bedi Nagar. Rinku Kumar had constructed a temple of a Hindu goddess in his house and 34 boxes of illicit liquor were hidden in a bin at the temple," Hardeep Bhanwra, Moga excise and taxation commissioner told media persons.

Rinku's relative Jaswant Rai was also employing the same trick to store and sell illicit liquor, Bhanwra said.

Jaswant Rai had set up a Peer Khana in his house from where 73 boxes of illicit liquor were recovered, she said.
