In another blatant instance of poll code violation in the Dasuya assembly, which goes to the polls on Wednesday, PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon stayed on in the constituency, despite EC orders prohibiting the presence of outsiders, after the campaigning window ends.
Dhillon, along with SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra, had also organized a press conference at Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, on Monday evening. Poll code prohibits the use of educational institutes for campaign.
SAD MLA from Garshankar, Surinder Singh Bhullewan Rathan, was also seen in Dasuya on Tuesday.
In yet another instance, Power State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) officials installed a new transformer at the Batwara village on Monday, reportedly on instructions of ruling BJP-combine leaders. This is another addition to the list of code breaches. On Saturday, residents had complained of poor quality of water supply.
To install the transformer, PSPCL opened its store on Saturday, began work on Sunday and the work was finished by Monday evening.
When contacted, XEN Mukerian Tilak Raj admitted that a new transformer was installed on Monday. He added that the work initiated ion the demands of consumers.
Returning officer Rahul Chaba said that he would examine these cases and issue notices to the politicians and would also seek explanation from the PSPCL XEN.
