A live bomb was found in a crusher unit at Haryal village near Pathankot during excavation of gravel material on Tuesday. The Bomb is likely to be defused by the army special bomb disposal squad on Wednesday. The area has been cordoned by the Punjab Police.
The bomb was first spotted by some labours of the crusher unit who were digging the earth for gravel material. Police which was informed by the nearby villagers soon reached on the spot and vacated the area after seeing the rusted live bomb.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Kaushal admitted that the bomb was live and needed experts to defuse it. He said that the army would defuse the bomb and nobody was being allowed to go near the bomb. He also said that the bomb could be very old but dangerous.
The labours who spotted the bomb were in panic as they remained frightened about the consequences if the bomb could have exploded.
Many locals say that the bomb could possibly be of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
