Those, who had high hopes that Hamirpur member of Parliament (MP) Anurag Thakur would be inducted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet, were taken aback when the news spread that he was not among those sworn-in on Sunday.

Though, Thakur earlier stated that he was happy with the present post of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) chief, the close friends and relatives feel it otherwise. They alleged that whenever the expansion of the Cabinet took place, the Congress party played a spoilsport by filing another candidate against him.

One of the relatives on condition of anonymity alleged that the Congress party was upset with the growing popularity of Thakur and his family among the masses.

Meanwhile, the BJP sources told Hindustan Times that the party high command was working on the principle of giving ministerial berth to the ones, whose names were not involved in any criminal activities and this was the reason Thakur failed to get the berth this time.

The party sources added that Thakur had done a lot to reach out to the youth and this was the reason behind making him BJYM chief for the third term.

However, the people here are happy with Jagat Prakash Nadda's induction in the Modi Cabinet. The locals are hoping that under Nadda's leadership, the people of Himachal Pradesh would get their due share in all such projects that were denied to them during the previous Congress government.

Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Board vice-chairman Rajinder Rana also expressed happiness over ministerial berth to Nadda. It is pertinent to mention here that Nadda has been given portfolio of health and family welfare minister in the Modi Cabinet.
