Lohara village overall champ in Ladwa block games

Lohara village bagged the overall trophy in the rural games at Khaira village under Ladwa legislative assembly. The games were organised by the efforts of Kurukshetra parliamentarian Naveen Jindal. Arun from Bapda village was the find of the tournament, who won 400m race in a remarkable 56 seconds besides winning other events.


More than 500 athletes attended the tournament, which provided them a platform to reach from the district level to state level.

Despite biting cold, athletes from surrounding villages gathered at Khaira Rajeev Gandhi Stadium to participate in the block-level kabaddi, volleyball and 100m, 400m and 3000m races on Sunday. The track was properly levelled with marked running lanes. Under the guidance of team coaches Mandeep and Pola Singh, youths performed well above the mark in the spirit of games. Lohara village won the trophy for being the overall best team by winning the kabaddi title and numerous other events in athletics.

Distributing prizes to winners, Youth Congress vice-president of Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency, Kulwinder Khaira motivated the youth to keep themselves fit in order achieve the highest goals in their life. He also appreciated MP Naveen Jindal for his pioneering efforts in organising such events to promote the youth of the area for state, national and international games by spending from his pocket.

Jindal aims to promote fitness and sports amongst youth besides making all Rajeev Gandhi stadiums functional. He has been focussing on grassroots level with numerous efforts like organising block-level games, providing coaches in village stadiums and playgrounds, big gymnasiums and national flags in all Rajeev Gandhi stadiums.
