Malwa Cultural Manch (MCM), Punjab, will host its Lohri cultural festival dedicated to girls at Dana Mandi, Gill Road, on January 11.

Punjabi singers Ravinder Grewal, Kanwar Grewal, Surinder Shinda, Sukhwinder Sukhi and many more will give live performances.

This was revealed at a press conference at Circuit House on Wednesday by MCM chairman Krishan Kumar Bawa, who also underlined that there should be no discrimination between male and female child in any manner and in any echelon of society.

“Lohri in Punjab is usually celebrated for a newborn male, while ignoring female babies. Our mindset must be changed in this regard. Also, those involved in female foeticide should be booked for murder under the Indian Penal Code,” Bawa added.
