Bollywood music composer and singer Himesh Reshammiya, who was in the city to perform at Chandigarh Carnival on Sunday, said love is the essence of his music and dismissed the reports of having any rift with singer Sonu Nigam or the legendary Asha Bhosle.
“It is a mere perception that some have,” said Reshammiya, who has sung hit numbers like ‘Tera suroor’, ‘Aashiq banaya aapne’ and ‘Hookah baar’.
Clearing the air on reports that suggest a rift with the two singers, he said, “Asha Bhosle commented on my nasal singing and after that we have done a song together. We have bonded well with each other during music reality shows, and even Sonu Nigam and I have a pleasant relationship.”
He said, “I don’t know where this news about rift between me and Sonu Nigam came from. I have never said anything against Sonu Nigam and we have never had any problem either.”
The 43-year-old credits his success to God, his father and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Reshammiya said, “I learnt music from my father but Salman Khan gave me my first break. Since then, there has been no looking back.”
Himesh debuted as a composer in Salman’s ‘Pyaar kiya to Darna Kya’. He has collaborated with Salman around 17 movies, which include ‘Tere naam’, ‘Maine pyaar kyun kiya?’, Bodyguard and ‘Prem Rattan Dhan Payo’.
Reflecting on his journey so far he said, “I have had an unconventional journey. I try to reinvent myself every year.”
Reshammiya claims to have a record of 650 hit songs, is back with another music album ‘Aap se mausiiquii’, ten years after ‘Aap ka surroor’, which was an instant hit. He said, “Love is the essence of his music as it connects everyone.”
Lulia Vantur, the rumoured girlfriend of Salman Khan, has also recorded a Hindi song with him, he says.
