LPU to launch exchange programmes with Al Qassim Univ

A delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by second ambassador from Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Dr Ali Mohammad Al Shehri, Hisham Mohammad Ajmal from Royal Embassy and Dr Ali Al Ghonaim, Al Qassim University (representing ministry of higher education of Saudi Arabia) visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) on Friday.

The delegates met LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal, pro-chancellor Rashmi Mittal, vice-chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar, deputy director Aman Mittal and the software support team of the university.

During the various rounds of mutual discussion between the two parties were: Providing English Language Programme to Saudi Arabian Students; empanelment of LPU with Ministry of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia; joint study, student and faculty exchange programmes; development of joint vocational programmes with vocational institutions in Saudi Arabia; hosting of Gulf Conference at LPU; software development for Saudi Arabian universities; and the recruitment & visit of professors from Saudi Arabia, chancellor Ashok Mittal said.

The visitors also went to buildings of various departments, hostels, laboratories, central library etc.

"We feel that this endeavour is not only a matter of pride and honour for LPU, but the state. The visitors have expressed their desire to partner LPU in various endeavors. If everything goes well, we expect certain collaborative programmes with the education ministry of Saudi Arabia very soon," he said.

Mittal added, "We would like to develop joint cooperation programmes with universities of Saudi Arabia. We can develop 2+2 programme at undergraduate level and 1+1 programme at Masters Level, in our diverse strong areas of study programmes like Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Business, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy etc. Under such possibilities students and faculty of both the countries will be benefited with great learning and job opportunities."

Dr Ali Mohammad Al Shehri said, "We are expanding our educational programmes for betterment of students and faculty. We have preferred LPU, as we are impressed by the infrastructure provided to students. We would like to work together in near future on great lines of our mutual discussions, to have long term relationship."
