High drama was witnessed as assistant commissioner of police (north) Dharu Dahiya slammed challan on an official vehicle of a Punjab and Haryana high court judge for wrong parking on Sunday afternoon.

The high court judge, along with his family, had come for shopping in Mochpura Bazaar. His escort vehicle and official vehicle was parked near Subhani Building Chowk.

Meanwhile, the ACP, who used to often take a round of the markets adjoining Chaura Bazar, walked to Mochpura Bazar along with his subordinates on Sunday afternoon. He saw two government vehicles parked near Subhani Building that were creating hurdles in the easy flow of traffic.

After watching this for at least 20 minutes, the ACP called the inspector and asked him to issue challan to the vehicles. After issuing the challan several people huddled at the spot and phone of ACP started ringing with calls of higher officials, who appealingly asked him to cancel the challan. After little resentment, the ACP followed the directions of his superiors and left the place. Reportedly, the judge called the police commissioner for cancellation of challan, who directed the official to cancel the challan. Contacted, ACP refused to make comments over the issue. Even senior officers of police maintained silence on the issue.
