Ludhiana: Burglars rob magistrate's house, take Rs 5,000

A judicial magistrate's house was burgled in Model Gram area on Saturday. At the time of the robbery, the magistrate and his family was not present in the house.

The police have registered a case under Sections 454 and 380 of IPC against unidentified accused following the complaint of constable Mahinder Singh, who has been deployed with the magistrate.
The police claimed that the burglars have decamped with Rs 5,000 in cash and some other valuables from the house.

The complainant stated that magistrate Jagmilap Singh has gone to Mansa on account of retirement of his father. In his absence, Singh had visited the house to check locks.

On Saturday, when he visited the house, he found that the locks were broken and the house had been robbed. He immediately informed the police and also the magistrate.

ASI Malkit Singh, who is investigating the case, said the magistrate was transferred to Hoshiarpur and has shifted all household things to his new accommodation. The burglars have only managed to take away some articles that were left in the house and some cash.

He said the police have been trying to identify the accused.
