Ludhiana: Couple, daughter booked for duping women of Rs 15 lakh

The Salem Tabri police on Sunday booked a man, his wife and daughter for duping two women of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of sending them abroad.

The accused have been identified as Anil Batra of Chandar Nagar, his wife Monika Batra and daughter Kashika.

In her complaint, Bindiya alleged that the accused used to run a chit-fund scheme and were travel agents too. The accused lured Bindiya and her sister-in-law Poonam Gautam that they will send them to Canada and demanded Rs 15 lakh from them. The accused neither send them abroad nor returned their money.

She alleged that the accused have duped several other people too. They have been absconding and their house was found locked. Inspector Maninder Bedi, station house officer (SHO) at Salem Tabri police station said the police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.
