Deputy commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal conducted a surprise inspection at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital on Saturday. The DC found some discrepancies and ordered the hospital authorities to take note of them immediately.
The visit was a surprise inspection. Aggarwal inspected several wards where patients were admitted. Some pregnant patients at Mother Child Hospital (MCH) told the DC that while they were being treated, they were not receiving the free diet issued to them according to government norms.
The deputy commissioner talked to senior medical officer (SMO) Dr Kulwinder Singh regarding the issue and asked him to provide the prescribed diet to pregnant patients.
Aggarwal also visited the dental wing of the hospital where he was treated upon by the doctors. He said it was important that the officials visited government hospitals to build trust among people who visited these institutions for services.
He expressed his satisfaction on the treatment provided to him at the dental wing. Aggarwal was treated upon by head of the department Dr Amrit Raj and Dr Rimpal Garg. While on his way to the MCH, he saw that a washroom was locked and enquired about it from the SMO. The DC also issued instructions for providing immediate treatment to those patients visiting the emergency ward. Aggarwal also interacted with patients.
