In her complaint, Paramjit Kaur alleged that the 24-year-old woman, identified as Ramanpreet Kaur, had come to pay obeisance at the dera on the occasion of Ram Navmi on Friday when her family members assaulted her and forcibly took her away.

Following her complaint, the police booked Mohan Singh, his wife Kamaljit Kaur, Harjinder Singh, Baljit Kaur, Amarjit Kaur and their seven unidentified accomplices.

Assistant sub-inspector Balvir Singh, who is investigating the case, said Paramjit Kaur also alleged that an FIR was lodged against her following complaint of Ramanpreet Kaur’s parents in August 2015 under Section 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In their complaint, her family had alleged that she had kidnapped their daughter and wanted to solemnise her marriage with someone.

She also told the police that she had come to the dera herself following which, the police had filed cancellation of case registered against Paramjit Kaur, he added.

The ASI further said that the matter will be resolved after the statement of the victim is recorded. “Efforts are on to trace her, ”he said.
