Following the recent imposition of a ban on covering the face while driving, police registered the first such case on Friday.
The Daresi police nabbed a 25-year-old man for covering his face with a handkerchief. He accused has been identified as Happy of Shimla Colony in Kailash Nagar.
A case has been registered under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC against the accused. However, he got bail later.
Daresi SHO Jatinder Kumar said the police, who were checking vehicles at a checkpoint near Ved Mandir Chowk, found the accused who was riding a motorcycle had covered his face with the kerchief. The police nabbed him and registered a case against him.
Police commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal had banned the covering of face with a piece of cloth while driving under Section 144 of the CrPC on August 19. The police commissioner had said that miscreants executed crimes after covering their faces.
