A minor girl from Ludhiana was allegedly abducted by a man, who allegedly took her to Kolkata, raped her and married her after forcibly converting her to Islam.
After the police tightened its grip on the family of the accused a month and a half ago, he sent her back home.
The girl alleged that the accused had threatened her against giving a statement against him or he would kill her and her family.
Various Hindu organisations have raised the issue. Kishan Lal Sharma, state president of Yuva Hindu Manch and general secretary Ashok Sareen have demanded the arrest of the accused immediately. The leaders have threatened dharna in case the police did not take action soon.
The victim, resident of Basti Jodhewal, told the media that Guddu, along with his brother, mother Nasima, father Niyad Ahmad and other accused Lado, Jyoti and Manjit had abducted her from Ludhiana railway station on May 18.
She alleged that the accused took her to Lucknow after making her wear a burqa. She said the accused raped her and also made objectionable video clips. The accused allegedly blackmailed her saying he would make the videos public in case she resisted his advances.
"The accused took me to Kolkata where he forcibly converted me to Islam and married me at a shrine. The accused also forced me to eat beef," alleged the victim.
"When the Ludhiana police arrested the accused's mother, he released me around a month and a half ago, threatening me against giving a statement against him," she added.
Additional deputy commissioner of police city-1 Amrik Singh Pawar said the girl had not made any statement about being forcibly converted to Islam. If it is so, the police would take appropriate action. He said the police had arrested the accused's mother and hunt was on to arrest the accused and his accomplices.
