Parents stormed the principal’s office at BCM Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, after the school authorities refused to show wards’ results to some asking them to clear their dues, on Friday. Both sides entered into a heated argument, blaming each other when parents accused the principal and staff members of misbehaving with them. The school reportedly sought police intervention, but in vain.
From 11am to noon, the parents protested inside the principal office and were pacified only after the school manager submitted a written apology. However, once the parents left the premises, the school principal sought security alleging misbehaviour and vandalism by parents.
The school declared the results of Classes 1 to 10 on Friday. Parents decided to meet the principal and manager after being informed by class teachers that the results will be shown only after dues were cleared. Parents alleged that the school receptionist, principal and manger misbehaved with a number of female guardians when they asked them to show their wards’ results.
In her anguish, a student’s mother reportedly threw her bangles in front of the principal. The manager asked the parents to deposit the balance fee failing which they will not declare the results of their wards.
A mother, requesting anonymity, said, “First the school receptionist talked rudely with the parents and when we met the school manager SK Mehta, he also abused a number of parents.”
After this, the parents protested against the school authorities and asked Mehta to submit a written apology to the parents. All the parents entered the school principal DP Guleria’s room and raised slogans against the principal and school management.
The written apology by the school to the parents states, “If some words of the staff, principal and management hurt anybody, we feel sorry.”
The school authorities wrote to the commissioner of police seeking immediate security. The school authorities stated that the parents entered the principal’s office without permission and misbehaved with him. When contacted, the school principal DP Guleria refused to comment.
STOPPED FROM APPEARING FOR ASSESSMENT TEST, STUDENTS PROTEST OUTSIDE KAMLA LOHTIA COLLEGE
Ludhiana: Students of undergraduate courses of arts and computer applications protested outside the Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College after the college authorities stopped them from appearing for their assessment exams because they had failed to pay their college fee. Principal Shiv Mohan said, “We gave enough time to students to deposit their fee but around 100 students failed to do so. There are a few students who have not paid their fee since October 2016. Our college is an unaided college and if students do not pay the fee on time, how will we pay salaries to our teachers?” He also added, “After the protest, a few some students also paid their fees today.”
