As two separate protests were organised in the city on Monday, the Ludhiana police averted violence by not allowing the protesters to burn an effigy of Baba Ramdev and preventing a traffic jam on Jagraon Bridge.

A protest was staged against Baba Ramdev by the Shiv Sena at Kali Charan Chowk and Chaura Bazaar.
On the other hand, the Shiv Sena-Bal Thackeray organised a protest at Jagraon Bridge against the celebration of martyrdom of terrorists.

The Shiv Sena's protest was held under the supervision of its president Ashwini Chopra, who condemned the atrocities committed on Hindus in the 1980s and '90s. The protesters expressed their anger against Baba Ramdev, calling him a fake saint and demanded an explanation from him regarding his actions in the past few months. However, the police did not allow the protesters to burn an effigy of Baba Ramdev.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) under the supervision of RD Puri protested against the martyrdom of terrorists being celebrated at Amritsar. They demanded that the authorities take strict action against people having any kind of links with terrorists. The organisation also staged a hunger strike on the Jagraon Bridge, but the police officials ensured that the protesters did not disrupt the traffic. Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) has demanded that their demands be fulfilled till July 14, failing which they would step up their agitation.
