Ludhiana has been ranked number one in milk production in Punjab with the district producing 37 lakh liters of milk daily, said deputy commissioner Rahul Tewari in a press statement on Tuesday.
Divulging information about various schemes for farmers by the Punjab Dairy Development Board and Dairy Development Department Punjab, he said Punjab had been ranked number two in production of milk in India, as the state produced 262 lakh liters of milk daily.
He said the farmers were using new techniques for the production of milk. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Dairy Training Centers are playing very important role to educate the farmers.
He further said that a training center was set up at Beeja, where the farmers could get education on care of animals and dairy farming techniques. He appealed to farmers to adopt dairy farming.
