Road mishaps claimed the lives of two men on Friday. In the first case, a pedestrian was killed after an unidentified motorcyclist hit him in Model Town area. The victim was identified Om Parkash, 30.
In his complaint, his brother Surinder Kumar stated that he and Om were visiting a hospital to check on their ailing relative. While they were crossing the road, a speeding motorcycle hit his brother and managed to flee the spot.
He rushed his seriously injured brother to the civil hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered against the motorcyclist at Model Town police station.
In another such incident, a 20-year-old man was killed after a speeding truck ran over him near Dehlon. The accused truck driver, Amarjit Singh of Jassowal, has been arrested.
The complainant, Shankar Yadav of Doburji of Payal, said he and his nephew, Jaggu Yadav, were going to a factory. As they reached near Dehlon, a speeding truck hit their motorcycle, throwing Jaggu on the road, and ran over him. The youth was killed on the spot. A case has been registered.
