Ludhiana: Two held for snatchings, vehicle lifting

The police arrested two persons for snatchings and vehicle lifting on Friday. A scooter, a motorcycle, four mobile phones and Rs 1,500 have been recovered.

The accused have been identified as Amit Kumar of Urban Estate Dugri and Prabhjot Singh.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP, central) Satish Malhotra said the accused were arrested from
Miller Gunj area. The accused were on a scooter when they were stopped for checking. The cops found that the accused had installed fake number plate on their scooter.

During interrogation, they confessed to their crime. They also confessed that they snatched a purse from a woman in Miller Gunj area on March 25. The Division Number 2 police have registered a case of snatching on the statement of Vinod Kumar, the father of the victim.

Division Number 2 station house officer (SHO), Inspector Surinder Mohan said the accused have been facing trial in many criminal cases. They have also confessed their involmement in snatching purse from women in Guru Nanak Market Model Town and Dugri.

They have stolen the scooter from Dugri Phase 2. They have also snatched or stolen mobile phone from several people, including a girl student.

The police expect more information from them during investigation.
