The Sahnewal police on Thursday booked a woman for abducting the 13-year-old daughter of her neighbour. The accused has been identified as Gudia of Deep Colony, Dhandhari.

The case has been registered on the statement of victim’s father Dev Nath. In his complaint, Nath stated that Gudia had taken his daughter along on on April 25 on the pretext of paying obeisance at a nearby temple, but did not return. He said they kept searching for her, but to no avail.

On May 21, Nath said, they got a call from an unknown number and the caller claimed that the girl was in ‘their’ custody. Nath said when he asked the caller to give the phone to his daughter, the caller didn’t oblige.

Nath said after that they kept getting calls from the kidnappers, but there was no demand for ransom yet.

Sub-inspector Harbhajan Singh, who is investigating the case, said investigations were on and the girl would be recovered soon.
