Infuriated over the latter’s alleged love affair, a 20-year-old woman stabbed her 17-year-old sister to death at their house at Dhandari Kalan here on Saturday.

She later changed the blood-soaked clothes of the deceased and also washed the floor before fleeing the house. At the time of the crime, the sisters, along with their eight-year-old sister, were at home as their parents were at work. The accused has been identified as Pooja.

The younger sister, who was witness to the crime, sounded their landlord, who informed the police.

The Focal Point police reached the spot and initiated investigation. The police arrested the accused in the evening and also recovered the blood-soaked clothes and the knife used in the crime.

Focal Point SHO Surinder Singh said Pooja was preparing lunch in the kitchen when Aarti received a call on her mobile phone from her alleged boyfriend Anmol of the same locality. She started chatting with him over phone to which Pooja objected and told Aarti to snap ties with Anmol.

The SHO said the sisters had an altercation following which Pooja took a kitchen knife and stabbed Aarti in her chest and abdomen. As a result, Aarti died on the spot.

Varinder Kumar, father of the victim, hails from Uttar Pradesh and the couple work in a factory.
