Three minor girls fell prey to sexual assault here on Sunday. The police have registered three separate cases in this context.
One Davinder Kumar, 34, along with his 16-year-old neighbour, abducted a 14-year-old girl from Bazigar Basti area of Salem Tabri, and the two raped her.
The girl who, along with her father, had gone to a religious programme at Bazigar Basti on Sunday night, in her complaint, said she came out of the venue looking for an eatery around 10 pm. It was then that the two lured her saying they would take her to a good eating joint and made her sit on their motorcycle. They took her to a vacant plot and raped her, she complained.
The accused dropped her on the way to her house and fled after threatening her against disclosing the matter to anyone. She reached home and narrated the matter to her family. Following this they approached the Salem Tabri police station and lodged an FIR against the accused.
Taking swift action, the police arrested the accused on Monday. A case under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and section 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offence has been registered against the accused.
In another such case, the Shimlapuri police arrested one Sonu, 23, of Dashmesh Nagar, Shimlapuri, for trying to rape a nine-year-old girl who had come to his house to invite her niece to her birthday party in the locality. The accused threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone.
Her father lodged an FIR against the accused. The police registered a case under sections 376/511 (attempt to rape) of the IPC and sections 8 and 10 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offence against the accused.
In his complaint, her father said they were celebrating the birthday of their daughter, who had gone to invite her friend for the party. When his daughter returned, she complained that her friend's uncle had tried to rape her. They reported the matter at helpline number 181 and also filed a complaint with the local police station.
Shimlapuri SHO inspector Satnam Singh said the police had arrested the accused immediately after registering a case.
In yet another case, a woman of Tajpur village lodged an FIR against his landlord for molesting her 10-year-old daughter. The Jamalpur police have registered a case under section 354 (molestation) of the IPC against the accused. The accused has been identified as Gurbinder Singh Grewal of Bhamiyan Kalan.
The complainant told the police that she, along with her husband, had gone to hospital for treatment leaving their daughter with the landlord. When they returned, they came to know that he had molested her. The police are looking for the accused who is at large.
