Kulwant Heart and Vascular Centre organised a free heart and medical check-up camp on the occasion of Gandhi Jyanti, at Kitchlu Nagar on Tuesday. Nearly 95 patients were examined at the camp by a team of specialists.

Dr Kulwant Singh, chief cardiologist, said the motive of the camp was to generate awareness among people about common heart problems and their prevention.
He said high salt intake, smoking, lack of exercise were major risk factors that could lead to heart problems.

“These can be minimised by maintaining a healthy diet, quitting smoking along with regular exercise and health check up once in a year for early detection of any disease, so that timely management can be done at minimal damage,” he added.

Free tests, including ECG, blood pressure and diabetes, were conducted. Medicines were also distributed free of cost to patients.
