ADCPs to monitor blocks during polling

To monitor polling process and to conduct polling fair and peacefully, police commissioner Ishwar Singh has formed block wise teams of police officials.

Officers of the rank of additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) have been given the rein of blocks and officers of the rank of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) would assist them.

According to the police commissioner, ADCP city-2 Bhupinder Singh Sidhu would monitor Dehlon Block and ACP (Gill) Gurpreet Singh will assist him.

ADCP city-3 Joginder Singh would monitor Sadar Block and ACP (Atam Park) Mukhtiar Singh will assist him.

ADCP (crime) Harmohan Singh Sandhu would monitor Ladowal block and ACP (east) Satish Malhotra will assist him.

Similarly, ACP Gurpreet Kaur Purewal would take care of areas falling under block Ludhiana-1.

ACP (Sahnewal) Jaswinder Singh, ADCP city-4 Naresh Kumar, SP (3rd Indian Reserve Battalion) Kehar Singh and ADCP (industrial security) Amarjit Singh would take care of areas Sahnewal, KoomKalan, Meharban and Jamalpur, falling under block Ludhiana-2, respectively.

The police commissioner said ban on carrying weapons during elections has already been imposed. Any person carrying weapons during election will face stern police action and the police would also cancel their arms license, he said.

CM approves 50 beds for civil hospital’s de-addiction centre

Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal visited de-addiction centre at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital on Friday. Though the CM stayed there hardly for five minutes, he agreed to increase the number of beds in the de-addiction centre to cater more patients.
