Ban on hookah bars extended

The district magistrate on Saturday extended the ban on hookah bars till next orders.

District magistrate Rajat Agarwal said the ban had been extended under Section 144 of the CrPC, and if anybody was found violating the orders, action would be initiated under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).


As part of the ban, hooka cannot be served at any establishment, including hotels and restaurants.

PSEB compartment exams to start from Sep 3

The Punjab School Education Board will be holding the classes 10 and 12 compartment exams at 21 examination centres from Wednesday. Although, as the state government has announced a holiday on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Baba Shri Chand, the board has decided to conduct the exams on the same date as per schedule.
