Panic gripped the Bhamiyan road area after the dead body of an unidentified man, aged around 40 years, was recovered from a farm there on Saturday.

Police sent the body to the civil hospital for autopsy and initiated investigation. Rope marks were apparent on the throat of the deceased.

Police suspected that the man was first murdered and then dumped at the site form where it was recovered. They are waiting for the postmortem report to register a case.

A passer-by, who first saw the body, informed the area residents about it. The residents informed the Jamalpur police.

ADCP (city-4) NK Sharma, ACP (Sahnewal) Jaswinder Singh and SHO Davinder Singh reached at the spot and initiated investigation.

Sharma said the possibility of murder could not be ruled out.
